Internet filters

Internet filters can help to combat online child sexual exploitation.

Nationally the DIA manages the Digital Child Exploitation Filtering System (DCEFS) which blocks access to websites known to host child sexual abuse material. DIA plans to incorporate lists from the Internet Watch Foundation, which will be updated daily to identify and block URLs containing such illegal content. This filtering system is voluntary for internet service providers, yet it plays a critical role in preventing access to harmful material and protecting children from potential re-traumatisation.

At home parents and caregivers can also utilise internet filters to help safeguard families from online harms such as child sexual exploitation, spam and scam, pornography, and violent extremism. These include:
